Strategy 8 - Stop “we-ing” all over the place!
Stop “we-ing” all over the place!
You need to understand and accept that no one is interested in you or your products. That’s OK, take a breath and let me explain what I mean.
Human beings are only interested in “what’s in it for me”. Someone once explained this to me saying that all people are tuned into radio WII-FM, that’s What’s’ In It For Me. I’ve never forgotten it since, I hope you don’t either.
Review all your sales copy including your web site, in fact, particularly your web site as it’s often one of the most prevalent “we” areas. “We” do this… we have been around since…”we” have the greatest…etc etc. People don’t care!
What’s in if for them? So what that you’ve been in business 25 years? What does that mean to them? If there’s no tangible benefit to the customer don’t mention it – they don’t care.
See where you can change “we” for “you or your” talk about and to your customers not about your business.
All the best,
Steve Clarke

Hi Steve
I know this is really important. I had picked this up from somewhere else previously. With Utility Warehouse my website is http://www.mags-pigs.co.uk I have no control over that as it is set up and run by the company.
I have however, given you the website address above for our family business, which I designed and built a few years ago now.
Top priority now, is to find time to check it out and make sure that I am not we-ing all over the place!!!
I really look forward to seeing your tips and emails come through and always endeavour to take the content on board and to learn from it.
Thank you for offering this great service for us.
Kind regards
Maggie x
Thanks Maggie - you might want to look into attending one of my Master Classes in on-line marketing…
Steve,
I honestly believed I had stopped unvoluntary we-ing long time ago but you have just opened my eyes. Like Schiphol airport introduced the fly in order to make men concentrate on their we-ing you are the master in de-we-ing. Thanks for your straight talking on this subject.
After a long morning of sales calls, trying to promote training, this email has given me some insentive to besoke everything for the customer. Thank you for your advice.
This article is like a good cold shower in case you’re considering falling in love with yourself, even if you are amazing
Hopefully it is a real pleasure to be of help to your customers,
Lisa, MoreSouth, organic mediterranean catering.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll set some time aside in my diary to go though my website and check this.
