Strategy 1 - You can start improving your profit today
“10 simple marketing strategies you can implement today to significantly improve your profits!”
At some point in time every successful business owner, (not every business owner, but every successful business owner), has a marketing, “ah ha” moment, their “Eureka” moment if you will; the moment the light bulb comes on.
It’s that very moment you realise that there’s little or no direct correlation between how hard you work, or how great your product or service is… to how many sales you actually make.
Too many people labour under the assumption that if you produce a great product or service and work hard – the sales will follow. News Flash… Sorry, but the world doesn’t work that way.
You can have a truly wonderful product or service, but if nobody knows about it, you’re in deep trouble.
It’s when business owners have this ‘ah ha moment’ they realise that in fact the success of their business rests with delivering outstanding marketing.
Here’s a very simple definition for you to always keep in mind;
- Marketing is what you do… to get the phone to ring
- Sale is what you do… once the phone rings.
Guess what? If the phone isn’t ringing -no sales. Ok, so a lot of business is conducted on-line nowadays, but I’m sure you get the picture.
Marketing is all about reaching potential customers and through you message and methods converting them to eager prospects. Sales then deliver paying customers and works diligently to keep them as lifetime clients.
(Understanding the lifetime value of your clients is also vitally import to your success and a topic we should visit on another occasion – for now, let’s get back to marketing).
I hope that by downloading this report you’ve recognised the importance of becoming an outstanding marketer. Unfortunately many business owners see marketing as a necessary evil, an unpleasant task they have to carry out at some point or other.
I hope that you’ll see that this is so totally wrong -and very dangerous too. Never more so than in today’s tough economic climate could this be so wrong. To a great extent – regardless of what you are selling; marketing is your business.
There’s good news though, and that is that effective marketing is a whole lot easier than you might think. If you don’t know anything about it yet, don’t panic because you’re not alone. Very few people do, even those who’ve been in business a long time.
But that’s all about to change – right now. Because I’m about to share with you 10 very simple and easy to understand strategies that you can implement immediately to significantly improve your marketing and your profits.
Strategy number 1.
Stop wasting your money on advertising that doesn’t work.
OK - This might sound blindingly obvious but its shocking how many business owners are spending vast amounts of time and money on Advertising and Marketing that simply doesn’t work.
Does the following sound familiar? (Come on, be honest).
Your yellow pages rep offers to sell you a specially discounted rate for another year of ads. You’ve been a good customer and boy does he have a good deal for you as a repeat offender, sorry, I meant repeat customer.
You could do with some more clients so readily accept the rep’s offer and feel pleased that you’ve saved some money too. Last year it was £1500, this year they’re letting you have the same size ad for just £995 – wow!
You probably then leave everything in the hands of the rep, including the ad’s layout and design. The ad comes out and… Guess what …nothing.
Why? Because advertising sales people and graphic designers are not marketing people. They don’t know what makes an ad effective.
Saved money? – You’re throwing it blindly away. What exactly did it generate for you last year or the year before? If you don’t know – stop it.
You need to be ruthless. If you can’t track exactly how much business an advertisement or mailer is generating for you stop it now. It’s not enough to feel that you seem to be busier since you ran an advert.
I’ve even had business owners tell me direct mail doesn’t work, but it does! Ask yourself, why would so many successful businesses use direct mail if it doesn’t work? All they’re really saying to me is that it doesn’t work for them when they do it the wrong way.
I can share with you the tips and strategies for creating powerful, effective advertisements and other marketing pieces and how to trace each sale to a specific marketing piece so you’ll know what works and what doesn’t. You might do this through a dedicated phone number, a free phone number, a coupon, a reference number, or through more advanced technology on-line.
In the meantime, if you’re advertising or mailing stuff out but you can’t tell beyond any doubt that it’s making you money, then stop doing it now!
All the best,
Steve Clarke
