It’s never been more important than in today’s crowded business environment to give yourself every competitive advantage possible. For many people this means you need to rise above the crowd and become a recognised expert and a leader in you field, but just how do you do that?

What will you do in 2011 that will reinforce who you are and to demonstrate the knowledge you possess? What Read the rest of this entry

I was listening recently to a fascinating business speaker, Grant Leboff, as he explained that when Barak Obama was campaigning for the presidency he talked repeatedly about the necessity for change. Yet by the time he assumed office in January 2009 the world of business had already changed - dramatically.

Back in 1990 - a London born computer scientist by the name of Tim Burners-Lee Read the rest of this entry

It’s the ultimate steal and what every person dreams about when searching through an attic, garage sales, antique stores, and flea markets.

Apparently, the owners of a now very famous 16 inch vase, kept it rather precariously perched on top of a bookcase in their living room. The ornate Chinese vase adorned with flowers and a fish motif on the front sat for years without too many people paying Read the rest of this entry

To say I was sceptical of the power of social media for business and of Twitter in particular would be an understatement.

If you’d asked me just a few months ago what I thought of Twitter – the answer was simple… Twitter, Twatter, Schmitter, Schmatter – what a complete waste of time. All I’d witnessed was, “I’ve had a cheese sandwich” ping. Who cares? What a waste of time. All Read the rest of this entry

What can we learn from men with little white balls… and dimples…

There’s a fabulous story which I was reminded of recently by Gill Fielding at an EBA event in London, Gill asked the question; “Why can’t men pee straight?” You may or may not have heard the story, it involves the mens toilets in Schiphol airport, Amsterdam… I promise this story is going somewhere and has relevance to Read the rest of this entry

There was a well known saying, “Half my advertising works and half doesn’t, but I just don’t know which is which”.

And back in 1930 or whenever this quote was first used, it was quite true. However, times have moved on and this just doesn’t have to be true any more.

It’s easy to get a pretty good handle on most, if not all, of your advertising and marketing just through using Tracking Read the rest of this entry

If you want to see a boost in sales - let your happy customers spread the word for you about your products and services.

People today, particularly in the younger generations, trust the opinions and feedback from their peers versus a sales pitch from the company selling the product or service, so let your customers do the talking.

“Advertising” as we’ve known it… is so old hat and becoming Read the rest of this entry
